The Production Engineer provides engineering, technical, managerial support, and leadership to the Mid Georgia Kaolin Mining and Processing Operations.

Production Engineer – Process Operations – Mid-Georgia (1800407) – McIntyre, GA

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Contribute to achieving the operations team's objectives by participating in, coordinating, and leading production, technology/capital improvements, audits, health, safety, ecology, quality assurance, and logistics.
- Provide production and process optimization, troubleshooting, data analysis, and technical support to the operations organization.
- Identify improvement opportunities, develop plans to achieve them in a cost-effective and timely manner, sell the plans to management, deliver on agreed-upon commitments.
- Develop equipment and process standards, operating procedures, diagrams, training materials, and job aids as required to properly document, teach, and manage site operations.
- Conduct managed experiments using DOE principals, run plans, and change management tools to identify and implement improvement opportunities addressing quality, costs, throughput, and operating reliability.
- Organize, lead, and participate in improvement initiatives, projects, and process optimization teams to deliver specific, focused, time-bound improvement objectives.
- Monitor operations on a daily/weekly basis, reviewing KPIs, operating logs, DCS trends, quality results, and other sources of data to ensure reliable, consistent, and cost-effective operations. Intervene where appropriate to identify and resolve operating issues.
- Design and implementation of new processes and/or equipment upgrades. Manage capital project assignments as necessary to support plant improvements.
- Satisfactorily perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry, and 7 years of hands-on manufacturing experience and/or process design experience; advanced degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience with production, process, or mechanical troubleshooting and optimization activities at a manufacturing facility.
- Proven track record of working in a team environment.
- Strong technical/problem-solving aptitude and data-driven.
- Able to solve complex problems by identifying and enrolling appropriate resources.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change. Creating and achieving a desired future state (vision) through influence on organizational values, individual group goals, reinforcements and systems.
- Interpersonal skills to develop teamwork with peers, and superiors, both internal and external.
- Ability to adapt and work effectively in an environment characterized by recurring change, uncertainty, or ambiguity.
- Proven record of developing creative solutions to new problems, or continuously improving systems and processes.
- Demonstrated ability via past experiences to act to achieve goals beyond what is required, to be proactive not reactive, and to solve problems without being assigned.
- Strong initiative and self-motivated.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of DCS (preferably Wonderware) and advanced process control systems.
- Familiarity with engineering standards and capital approval processes.
- Knowledge of MSHA, PSAs, and EPA regulations is a plus
