Where the Chemistry Happens…

BASF’s Middle Georgia site employs approximately 500 people who are distributed across four production plants and three milling operations covering 38,000 acres. The site mines, processes, and distributes Kaolin to customers around the world.

Senior Process Engineer (1801291) – McIntyre, GA

In this role, you will apply Engineering Best Practices to solve process and production problems and create improvements in the plant operations. In addition, you will advise and/or train the production supervision and hourly personnel during the startup and/or development of new and existing processes in collaboration with a process engineer or team. You will analyze productivity, quality, cost, and maintenance data and use that information to optimize existing plant/mill equipment. You will also efficiently and effectively evaluate new or proposed equipment for the optimization of processes.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Address and raise the EHS standards at BASF. Actively contribute to meeting the team’s EHS objectives.
- Identify opportunities and efficiently and effectively evaluate initiatives in production and process optimization, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
- Monitor operations on a daily/weekly basis and analyze and study trends to determine patterns, research inefficiencies, and identify action plans to correct issues.
- Develop equipment and process standards, operating procedures, and training materials as needed to document and manage site operations.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Marketing, Process Engineers, Product Development, and Research for scale-up of new products and major refinements of existing products.
- Supervise the Process Engineering Technician.
- Relieve Operations Area Leaders as needed.
- Progress to achieving Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a Kaolin processing environment is an asset
- A minimum of 5 years of experience with processing equipment and control systems.
- Thorough knowledge of functions and designs of mills, plants, maintenance of rotating machinery, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Familiarity with chemical and corrosive environments.
- Previous work in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership experience required. Supervisory experience is an asset.
- Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification is a plus.
