Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Sustainability Government Indigenous Affairs Specialist position holds responsibility for championing and implementing BASF Canada’s Sustainability, Government Relations and Indigenous Community within the overall framework of the organization’s Communications and Community Relations strategy.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Develop, implement and manage strategy for the Sustainability and Government/Indigenous Affairs folder for BASF Canada, prioritize roll out and activities based on short, medium and long term goals
- Key contact and national champion on Indigenous Affairs and engagement for BASF Canada, manage BASF Canada's PAR applications at CCAB and ensure we achieve milestone certifications and cultural transformation
- Active engagement with key national stakeholders from business associations, government officials and sustainability advocates aimed at promoting BASF's corporate messages, brand and interests and influence relevant public policies in Canada
- Deeply understand the customers' views on sustainability topics and regulatory affairs; facilitate platform for dialogue geared towards supporting them and providing customers with relevant services and information on sustainability
- Manage regular dialogues with internal BASF businesses to prioritize and cater BASF Canada's external messaging to the business needs
- Deeply understand the customers' views on sustainability topics and regulatory affairs
- Spearhead yearly Sustainability reporting/presentation for BASF Canada in alignment with global and regional teams
- Actively position Sustainability as a source of innovation and competitive advantage, fully integrated into BASF business strategy to internal and external stakeholders
- Develop key government stakeholder listing and engagement strategy with relevant officials on the federal and provincial level
- Active engagement in CIAC as an advocate of Responsible Care practices from BASF Canada
- Support communication colleagues with sustainability and government/indigenous relations stories and content. Overall active contributor to the corporate communications team

Qualifications

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- BA or BSc with a focus on Sustainability; MBA preferred
- Minimum 10 years work experience in related areas with a minimum of 4 years in Government Relations
- Active professional social media presence
- High degree of computer and digital literacy
- Must be willing & able to constantly challenge the status quo & encourage improvement
- Bilingual French & English - written and verbal is preferred
