Description
Principal Responsibilities

1. Provides direct assistance in the troubleshooting of equipment and systems in order to maintain equipment/system reliability and high production output.

2. Monitor equipment reliability and performance for the purpose of identifying potential problems and avoiding costly downtime.

3. Maintain a high level of technical expertise on their particular discipline.

4. Assists in the training and development of personnel on trouble shooting equipment and systems so that all can work towards raising their skill level.

5. May be involved in capital project activities: installation support and start up.

6. Work with the Team to generate cost savings ideas that reduce the Total Cost of Ownership

7. Researches parts, materials, tools, devices, equipment, etc. for purchase or rent in order to support day to day operations.

8. Maintains personal database of contacts, vendors and contractors to call on for direction, assistance and support as needed to aid in the reliability of the site production and services.

9. Provide a consistent and high level of output with little supervision or direction.
- Work environment

Communicates daily with Supervisor, Maintenance Coordinator and Site production personnel regarding work tasks related to site maintenance. Acts under the direction of either a Maintenance Engineer or E&I Supervisor.

Regularly works indoor in productions areas and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Business environment

Must keep current on equipment and system technology as it relates to safety, plant engineering and maintenance.
- Internal end external relationships

Communications daily with Supervisor and/or Maintenance Coordinator concerning work scopes and priority of maintenance activities and capital projects. Interfaces with Operations Engineers and Production Supervisors regarding all aspects of equipment maintenance. Works with Project Teams regarding design and implementation of capital projects. May also deal with vendors and outside engineering resources.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience -

Required:
- High school education and equivalent experience.
- Relevant experience in Operations, Engineering, or Maintenance in the chemical or refining industries.
- Experienced in the engineering, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of one or more of the following: mechanical systems, electrical systems, field instrumentation, automation & process control systems.
- Ability to read and update mechanical drawings and schedules, electrical and instrument documents such as schematics, specifications, control diagrams, P&IDs, PLC Ladder Logic, and one-line diagrams.
- Good working knowledge of chemical plant equipment and technologies.
- A good understanding of working within the rules of safety and environmental policies.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Good computer skills. Ability to use Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, Email, Internet and Computer Based Training programs. Experience with SAP a plus.

Highly disciplined to steady work and meeting schedules and deadlines.

Ability to organize and maintain records and logs, complete necessary paperwork legibly and timely.

Experience with performing Preventive Maintenance (PM) and working with PM programs.

Experience with Predictive Maintenance (PdM) techniques such as Vibration Analysis, Ultrasonic, and Infrared Testing a plus.
