This position is part of an expert group that provides support for BASF Corporation sites in North America. It includes leading regionally and participating globally in the application of maintenance expertise for large heavy duty and critical rotating equipment resulting in increases in performance, plant optimization, and reliability. This role will be responsible for supporting all of North America plans and be a collaborative leader and contributor towards the alignment of global support, including the transfer of maintenance experience into the engineering phase.

The job scope includes Reciprocating and Turbo machinery Compressors, Process Refrigeration, Electrical Drives, Pumps, and Industrial Process Machinery.

Project Manager Sr./Staff (1703355) – Palmyra, MO

The RSC PM (Regional Service Center Project Manager) services the technical support needs for a linked regional site. This position is responsible for providing project management in assigned plant areas to assure proper design, procurement, and construction of capital and expense projects, usually <$15M, per regulatory and BASF standards.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Develop project scopes, generate and/or obtains cost estimates, and prepare appropriation funding requests. Ensure appropriate project safety reviews are completed as required, both before and after approval. Utilize applicable value-Based Engineering practices (VBE) to optimize project scope and costs.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe working environment for project execution.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with assigned project manufacturing representatives to execute projects from initial scoping and funding, through detailed engineering and procurement, to startup and commissioning, and final documentation and closure.
- Request and coordinate required process and discipline engineering and design resources, whether from the site or corporate groups or outside engineering vendors, to prepare engineering design deliverables and to procure equipment, fabricated materials, and services.
- Adhere to current corporate and plant requirements for equipment/materials specifications and vendor preferences.
- Maintain SAP project data entries, monitor project progress through scheduling and other tools, perform project status reporting, and control spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and 7 or more years of degreed professional experience in chemical manufacturing or a related industry environment.
- At least 4 years of experience as a Project Manager or Project Engineer.
- Working knowledge of chemical process equipment: rotating equipment, heat transfer, solids handling, storage tanks, and vessels.
- Able to travel up to 50% of the time to support Regional Service Center projects.
- Demonstrated work experience in project execution with strong customer focus capabilities to closely interact with multiple organizational levels.
- Solid interpersonal, communication, administrative, personal motivation, and personal adaptability skills.
- Must have generic competencies of analytical thinking, communication, and interpersonal understanding, initiative, teamwork and team leadership, and quality orientation/attention to detail.
- Understanding of best practices for project management work processes.
- General computer skills.

Preferred:
- Professional engineering license is a plus.
- Familiarity with BASF Technical standards, accounting practices, and procurement policies.
- User knowledge of SAP project functions.
- Knowledge of the BASF Project Execution Roadmap is desirable.

Position will be filled at a level commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
