Description
Position Description: The Maintenance Superintendent at the Pasadena, EN site leads, directs, and manages activities related to the maintaining of processing equipment, buildings, utility systems and other property at the site. Leads the mechanical and E/I maintenance groups, and leads continuous improvement efforts in maintenance areas. Position also has the responsibility of planning, and implementing all maintenance activities in the plant in order to maximize reliability while adhering to safe work practices, procedures, and corporate policy. The function is also to ensures proper installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of equipment and process systems according to regulatory and BASF standards. Position also ensures efficient and effective utilization of maintenance employee resources, tools and equipment. Role will be managing a maintenance team consisting of a total of 3 BASF and nested contract employees.

Principal Job Responsibilities -
- Day to day supervision of mechanical and E/I maintenance activities that includes managing planner/scheduler, maintenance specialist, BASF maintenance technicians, store room personnel, nested maintenance contractor and other contractors.
- Ensuring the sustainability of the maintenance work flow process and placing emphasis on the prioritization coordination with operations.
- Compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and foster an injury-free work place by establishing high safety and housekeeping standards.
- Participate in and implement MOCs (Management of Change), PSSRs (Pre-Startup Safety Review), PHAs (Process Hazard Analysis), PSM (Process Safety Management), and ISO processes as required.
- Coordination with operations to accomplish tasks while minimizing disruption to the production department.
- Lead maintenance efforts for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Identification and implementation of cost savings and reliability improvement projects.
- Development and implementation of maintenance skills training.
- Support managing site maintenance budget.
- Work closely with the site reliability engineer in developing and implementing reliability systems utilizing BASF methodologies.
- Support the scope development, maintainability, and commissioning of capital projects.
- Establishes equipment PM systems, optimizes PM schedules and ensures completion of PSM mechanical integrity and all other PMs completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical , Chemical or Electrical Engineering
- 6 or more years relevant chemical plant experience with 3-5 years in maintenance supervision or 20 years direct chemical industry experience
- Previous supervisory experience required. E/I experience and turnaround experience a plus.
- Experience with maintenance planning process ,preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance and equipment reliability programs.
- Ability to work independently under broad goals and objectives with minimal guidance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Familiar with SAP/Cobalt, MS Office, other CMMS and BASF web based applications a plus
- Experience with PSM program preferred
