BASF Colors & Effects is looking for a Plant Support Team Lead, who will be responsible for ensuring that plant support targets are met. They will also be responsible for planning and execution technology projects at three US based production plants - Peekskill, NY, North Charleston, SC and Hartwell, GA.

The successful candidate will support the effect pigment research team activities and plan and execute technology projects and topics. They will also be responsible for determining the timeline for the projects, the technical approach and activities for the team to preform as well as expected to report monthly on project progress.

The Plant Support Team Lead will supervise laboratory personnel and maintain a safe and health work environment by being aware of and implementing company wide and site safety policies/procedures. They will also responsible for the supervision and performance management and coaching of direct reports.

The Team Lead is expected to communicate directly with business line and technical colleagues as well as liaise with production personnel and supervisors. Individuals are expected to have the ability to communicate at all levels across the organization.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

- Bachelor's degree and/or advanced degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

- Greater than 5 years’ experience in effect pigment process engineering and coated platelet production
- Project management experience with demonstrated track record in the planning, execution and delivery of projects on time and on budget
- Previous managerial experience and a demonstrated ability to lead a team of talented scientists preferred

- Strong quality and safety orientation
- In-depth understanding of process equipment design including pumps, chemical synthesis reactors, material balances, instrument specifications, and process controls required
- Ability to apply both fundamental principles and creativity to the development and improvement of new products and processes
- Excellent experimentation and superior problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret chemical & physical analytical data and coloristic data. Analyze interaction between synthesis variables, process conditions and final coloristic properties
- A team player who not only delivers on their own projects but also supports others to deliver projects
- A capable and approachable leader
- Demonstrated ability to give, receive and act upon feedback
- A passion for continuous learning and applying new tools
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong inter-personal and presentation skills
