Purpose of the Job

Responsible for Instrument and Electrical duties as assigned. This will include the troubleshooting, installation, calibration, and repair of instrumentation / electrical equipment, and completion of Preventative Maintenance tasks at the Port Arthur, TX Site.

Principal Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will work with the Instrument/Analyzer Supervisor and Maintenance Technicians. This is to accomplish and document routine maintenance work including:
- Preventative maintenance
- Regulatory inspections
- Capital project assistance
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and documentation for plant instrumentation
- Support all EHS policies and procedures while promoting a safe working environment
- Track and update assigned tasks in maintenance management system (SAP) on daily basis.
- Fill in as I/E Shift Technician (Rotating 12 Hour Shift) on occasion / permanent basis
- Be willing to work overtime as required
- May be required to use appropriate PPE per site policy
- Comply with all company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience - What skills, training or experience are needed to perform the job?

- Minimum of five years’ experience in the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of the following instrumentation, but not limited to:
- Transmitters (flow, level, pressure, temperature, etc.)
- Measuring Elements
- Control valves, automated valves, MOV’s, etc.
- Basic knowledge of DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controllers)
- Ability to work and troubleshoot equipment with voltages up to 480 VAC
- Ability to read and update electrical and instrument documents such as schematics, specifications, P&IDs and one-line diagrams
- Proficient in use of computers: (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Associate Degree in Instrumentation or equivalate Military Training (plus)
- Previous Petrochemical experience in Instrumentation
- Working knowledge of chemical plant equipment and technologies
- Overall excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of SAP data entry used for notification and history process (plus)
