Where the Chemistry Happens…

In this role, you will primarily support the Port Arthur and Beaumont, TX sites with technical project management and coordination, infrastructure needs, and business-as-usual support for internal business partners relating to phones, printing, and computing. This role will participate in and potentially lead global and regional IT projects for the above sites as well as other sites in the South and West regions, including Texas, Louisiana, Mexico, and Central America.

Lead Infrastructure Analyst, Staff Specialist II (1800113) – Port Arthur/Beaumont, TX

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Participate in or lead formal and informal meetings with internal business partner to understand business objectives, and recommend technical solutions.
- Take part on emergency management teams as necessary during weather-related and other emergency incidents.
- Manage projects and vendors during global and regional projects ensuring cost-effective and least-impactful solutions.
- Understand and troubleshoot all aspects of infrastructure including LAN/WAN, iDMZ, wireless network, handheld/scanner support, VoIP telephony, printers, servers, and server room to ensure business continuity.
- Configure/troubleshoot switches in the iDMZ and other non-BASF Corporate Networks at the Beaumont and Port Arthur sites.
- Plan, design, and configure new network infrastructure environments to address growth and decline, including acquisitions and divestitures.
- Liaise between site management, property management, and numerous local carriers to ensure and maintain site operability.
- Work with networking group and vendor to monitor and evaluate site LAN/WAN issues and utilizations; recommend solutions to site management.
- Provide temporary and long-term BASF LAN solutions to shutdown teams and project teams located on or off BASF property.
- Liaise and facilitate desktop support when escalated from Tier 1 service desk and technicians.
- Liaise and facilitate between internal business partners and vendor-managed services relating to server/SAN support
- Support site-specific applications including, but not limited to, application certifications and server support (e.g., updating license files for applications on servers, and working with security on LED sign software).
- Conduct technical consultancies with internal business partners for printers, special purpose computers, and servers.
- Provide guidance to vendors who will connect equipment to a network (e.g., BCN, iDMZ).
- Provide support for internal business partners including purchasing computer equipment/phones, configuring phones, configuring network ports, and requesting rights to folders.
- Support Joint Venture partner to address IT-related requests.
- Provide best-effort support of lab systems and other systems as requested.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of experience within a technical environment; OR in lieu of degree, at least 10 years of experience within a technical environment.
- Technical competencies relating to LAN/WAN, IDF/MDF, audio/visual components, wireless networks, and VoIP telephony systems required.
- Experience relating to wiring practices, fiber optic, and structure cabling is desired
- Knowledge of server hardware, Windows operating systems, and SQL.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving by collaboration and root cause analysis.
- Ability leading technical projects relating to infrastructure requests; capable of leading and coordinating large-scale projects with minimal impact to business.
- Excellent communication skills in relating with customers and Joint Venture partners and present business case as necessary.
