Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Product Manager, Foliar Biologicals is responsible for the financial performance of the corresponding product portfolio in the short and long term. The individual provides input for the market position and technical development of Foliar Biologicals to support the implementation of sales strategies and polices in the assigned areas. The role implies a close cooperation with sales/marketing personnel and technical service laboratory to understand technical developments to enhance business opportunities via product applications, meet customer expectations, and solve technical problems.

Product Manager, Foliar Biofungicides (1701702) – Research Triangle Park, NC

The product manager is responsible for the strategic development of the product portfolio and provides information for long-term planning and strategic decision-making.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Product Portfolio Management: Responsible for the global management of the Foliar Biologicals Biofungicides product portfolio and its implementation in the regions.
- Market Know-how and Business Strategy: Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical development that affect the market for Foliar Biofungicides. Provide input for the strategic development of the Foliar Biofungicide product portfolio, and long-term forecasts.
- Customer Needs: Collaborate with regional and country colleagues, execute regular customer visits/calls, research customer needs, and develop application of products and services effectively. Consolidate information concerning product performance, customers’ expectations, and intelligence on competitors and trigger product modification.
- Product Development: Identify potential for new products in the area of Foliar Biofungicides for global and regional markets. Set priorities and trigger lead user projects for development of new products. Provide data for the preparation of business cases for R&D project proposals. Define/ describe product performance. Work with R&D to follow-up on customer complaints concerning technical related issues.
- Market Launches: Promote and coordinate launch of new products worldwide. Participate as part of a product launch team to ensure smooth introduction of products in customer serving processes.
- Sales Material: Prepare marketing measures to support regional sales. Share information with the marketing and sales team via reporting/workshops regarding the experience gained in technical service laboratories, manufacturing processes, etc. Provide content for the preparation of sales material and training.
- Cost of Goods (COGs) Management: Develop strategies to attain competitive COGs. Discuss and analyze cost factors with Production, Supply Chain, and Purchasing and provide guidelines for the long-term development of COGs.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a marketing orientation; Master’s degree a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional work experience with the majority spent in the agriculture industry, with additional experience in biological applications preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in product or project management within a matrixed organization.
- Strong communication skills utilizing negotiation tactics and the ability to influence others to drive a solution.
- Experience working overseas is a plus.
