Description
Principal Responsibilities :
- Call on designated distributors to communicate the value of BASF's products, focusing on the benefits of using BASF crop protection products and services.
- Develop a value based sales strategy for each customer based on their unique needs, interests, and business goals and objectives in order to maximize sales opportunities.
- Develop and maintain good business/trade relationships with designated distributors and linked accounts
- Communicate and promote BASF marketing, sales and technical programs to designated accounts and key personnel in order to drive business and achieve sales goals
- Develop an Account plan that defines potential of the assigned accounts for both existing and potential customers and that establishes priority coverage for accounts and prospects through appropriate call frequency and geographic patterns.
- Implement the account plan in order to yield maximum sales and meet or exceed sales goals.
- Initiate and coordinate strategic planning sessions with designated accounts that ensure business/action plans are developed, implemented and updated on a local, area and regional basis.
- Prospect for new business.
- Take an active role in assisting the Strategic Account Manager with Linked Account Call Preparations, Call Plans and issues resolution.
- Communicate business issues and possible alternatives to BASF management and work with the appropriate BASF areas to implement solutions.
- Support, cooperate and closely coordinate actions and plans with sales team to ensure Regional and district objectives align with accounts and are achieved.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Required:
- Bachelor Degree in Science (such as Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology), Business or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in field sales, management, marketing, and/or business development.
- Strong understanding of the manufacturer/distributor business relationship.
- Demonstrated success in budget management in a sales environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop strong, successful business relationships with customers as well as internal teammates.
- Ability to self-manage time and resources and to allocate time and energy appropriately, resulting in achievement of goals.
- Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel overnight/weekly. Minimum 40% overnight travel.
- Passionate about making a difference in the agricultural industry.
- Must reside or be willing to reside within driving distance of Memphis, TN.

Preferred:
- Proven track record of success selling to distributors.
