Where the Chemistry Happens…

BASF Enzymes LLC is growing its QA/QC team in San Diego, CA, and we are seeking a Quality Control (QC) Associate Scientist to be responsible for conducting quality control routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in process, and finished formulation enzyme products following standard operating procedures. Job scope includes performing new method development, method improvements, and validation of enzyme activity determination or supporting assays.

Quality Control Associate Scientist (1701075) – San Diego, CA

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Conduct microbiological and analytical analyses following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Compile data and records results.
- Review results for compliance to specifications and reports deviations.
- Analyze data and prepares reports, upon request.
- Prepare and revises SOPs and test methods, as required.
- Conduct necessary maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
- Conduct problem solving on analytical and instrument issues, as required.
- Apply knowledge of good laboratory practices daily.
- Performs method transfer to and training of toll manufacturing personnel.
- Identify and assess risks in everyday operation and support and participation in process safety programs.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or Molecular Biology, required

· Previous industry preferred
- General molecular biology and biochemistry laboratory techniques, including spectrophotometry and a basic understanding of enzyme-catalyzed reactions and kinetics required
- Knowledge of good laboratory practices is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Previous experience with method development and troubleshooting assays preferred
- Travel will be required and can be as much as 25% of time, including international travel

We Also Look for…
- Previous experience running assays to determine enzyme activity, preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, a plus.
