Where the Chemistry Happens…

This position has responsibility for the support and implementation of the Control Systems (e.g., DCS, PLC), Data Historian, and Process Information Systems. The focus of the role is to deliver and maintain Control Systems that meet production requirements, perform functionality and safety obligations, and maximize system capability.

Process Controls Engineer (1800667) – Savannah, GA

Formula for Success: You Will…
- - Create and maintain plant SCADA software systems to BASF standards (e.g., Wonderware InTouch ArchestrA).
- - Develop and preserve DCS and PLC programs to ensure efficient plant performance (e.g., APACS, Delta V, Allen Bradley PLC).
- - Ensure backups of all controls systems.
- - Preserve plant historical data collection systems.
- - Maintain all permit-required data warehousing and reports.
- - Manage development of all maintenance, production, and engineering control system programming.
- - Assure upkeep of plant control network and plant control computers.
- - Perform maintenance of critical safety interlocks for plant equipment in DCS and PLC systems.
- - Sustain proper design, installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems according to regulatory and BASF standards.
- - Supply technical expertise to operations and maintenance in the controls areas.
- - Provide leadership to the maintenance resources in the relevant controls and E&I functions, and assisting in or executing small projects.
- - Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree combined with 5 years of related industrial experience in a chemical or similar manufacturing environment required; Bachelor's degree requirement may be waived for those that have additional years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS), automation, and instrumentation required (e.g., Function block, sequential function logic, and ladder logic programming experience).
- Strong interpersonal skills to interface with other departments on- and off-site.
- Sound technical skills to help troubleshoot problems in the different manufacturing areas.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in chemical plant operation preferred.
- Knowledge of chemical unit and material handling operations preferred.
