Where the Chemistry Happens…

Production Technician (1802239) – Savannah, GA

As a member of the Production Team, the Axens Production Technician will work with the plant to facilitate meeting production commitments. The role will directly facilitate nonexempt employees in the assigned department. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work for upcoming shifts; supporting the performance appraisal process; and helping to resolve production issues.
- Supports all BASF Responsible Care initiatives to improve EHS performance and meet site and business targets.
- Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products
- Coordinates production activities with management, purchasing, quality, and maintenance to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
- Provides daily support for safe-manufacturing operations
- Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance needs, and operational reports for trouble shooting, cost reduction and reporting.
- Develops and implements operating procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality
- Ensures inventory control of raw materials, parts and maintenance needed to maintain production.
- Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment to improve production and quality of products
- Provides performance feedback for appraisals on area personnel
- Conducts investigations to resolve plant issues and makes recommendation to management for resolution
- Participates as a member of the Production Leadership Team reporting to the Operations Manager.
- Participates in meetings with the support staff and Lead Operators to establish training priorities and schedules.
- Assist with trials and other as needed production related projects.
- On an exception basis, provide area coverage in the event of unexpected circumstances that could otherwise shut down an area of the facility.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing role

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a Lead Operator or Operator role
- Experience utilizing SAP software (Maintenance & Logistics Shipping)
- Experience troubleshooting plant equipment and minor maintenance
