Where the Chemistry Happens…

We have a great opportunity for a Technology Manager R&D - Construction Systems to join our team and manage the technical efforts relating to Construction Systems for the North American Construction Chemicals RBU.

This position requires international travel.

Technology Manager R&D, Construction Systems (1700808)

Formula for success. You will.....
- Participate actively in the strategy planning process by preparing and presenting technical information to include BASF and competitive information, market intelligence, out of the box thinking and innovative ideas. Ensure business strategy is effectively communicated and implemented throughout the Construction Systems technical organization. Actively support global strategic initiatives working with the business group. Actively support global initiatives and ensure the technical organization is a key driver in successful implementation of all business line initiatives.
- Represent the North American Construction Systems R&D community on the global Construction Systems Segment Portfolio Management Team.
- Direct activities in Product Development, Product research, Engineering, Product Technology, and Manufacturing support. Ensure product portfolio alignment with the business line strategies.
- Provide insight and guidance to Procurement on reducing raw material cost as well as product maintenance to meet customer needs and industry norms.
- Provide innovation ideation recourses to support customer creativity platforms. Develop product plans to present to customers and drive innovation.
- Manage financials of the Construction Systems R&D group. Submit requested information to the finance group for budgeting and planning.
- Communicate strategy and BL initiatives to the technical organization. Communicate on a regular basis within the Construction Systems Business Line to ensure the technical organization is working as a unified team. Communicate effectively and timely with HR to work through personnel issues. Communicate effectively with the technical organization regarding corporate processes.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for success. What we look for in you…..
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, etc.) required
- Minimum 10 years of R&D, product development and/or other relevant technical or scientific experience required
- Minimum 7 years of experience directly managing others within a technical environment required
- Experience working and collaborating with global colleagues on technical strategies, projects and issues.
- Experience managing financials including P&L statements, expense control, budgeting, etc.
- Experience in hiring, coaching & development and performance management
- Strong analytical skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Conflict management skills

We also look for:
- Advanced degree (MS and/or PhD) strongly preferred

This position requires international travel.
