Description
- Develops and manages a strategy and schedule for completing all necessary maintenance work at the Sparta Engineering Plastics Compounding (SEPC) site
- Reviews and plans maintenance work orders, ensuring materials are available at start of job
- Effects continuous improvement of maintenance work flow processes which includes planning, scheduling, coordinating with production, and on-time sourcing of maintenance materials (stores)
- Maintains a dynamic preventive maintenance (PM) program that effectively keeps equipment running at maximum uptime with minimum number and frequency of unplanned outages
- Manages record development and retention for all maintenance activities on all site equipment
- Responsible for fully utilizing reliability system gap analysis tools to effect continuous improvement in reliability of site mechanicals
- Manages the portion of the site budget dealing with maintenance manpower, maintenance materials, and maintenance contractor services
- Effectively utilizes contractor services working with and through the PIC's contractor qualification process
- Serves as the site liaison to contractor services and contractors
- Manages and directs all annual or biannual scheduled plant production outages for maintenance
- Supports capital projects creation, scoping, approval, materials/labor acquisition, installation, and commissioning
- Provides direct supervision to SEPC maintenance mechanics
- Responsible for developing a cohesive maintenance team characterized by high morale, cooperation, and job satisfaction
- Functions as the primary driver for ensuring mechanics receive on-going training to enhance the technical capability of the SEPC maintenance team
- Ensures maintenance department full compliance with all EHS regulatory and BASF requirements
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
- BS degree required Mechanical or Technical Engineer
- 2-5 years industrial plant experience
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
- Computer literacy with SAP experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability in supervision, team building, coaching/mentoring, and leadership
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail and results orientation
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial drive without the need to be closely supervised
Demonstrate positive, proactive leadership and teamwork behaviors
· Achieve significant improvement in safety, cost, efficiency, and employee goals
· Use Six Sigma continuous improvement tools to permanently resolve repetitive failures
· Sense of urgency and effective prioritization, organization, planning, and scheduling skills to maximize utilization of available resources and achieve significant results
· Effectively use SAP maintenance module, RCFA, and other computer systems to drive continuous improvement
