Description
This role is responsible for aligning with the Nutrition & Health business team to support the growth of BASF's Food Performance Ingredient product line in North America. Target markets will include Bakery, Dessert, and unique applications in the beverage, snack and pet markets. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Providing customers (internal and external) with superior technical support and know how for the Food Performance Ingredient product line.
- Providing a strategic understanding of the North American food industry in defined target markets.
- Recognizing and driving growth in defined target markets via new business opportunities, penetration into existing/mature markets and additional avenues of business.
- Design, formulate and test new applications focusing on defined target markets.
- Making comparisons between BASF food Performance Ingredient product line and competitive products identifying areas of business potential.
- Establishing positive rapport with customers and building solid relationships.
- Interacting with Global Product Development/Applications Group and NA team (Marketing, Sales & Technical Support) to identify/understand market trends and regional needs.
- Provide direct customer support via technical presentations, remote formulation support via phone/email, on-site support for customer trials, and conducting training sessions and seminars to customers.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Position Requirements include:
- Bachelor's in Food Science, Food Technology or related science. Advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years experience in the food industry with 5+ in the bakery industry.
- Must have a thorough understanding of steps and key players in the bakery/dessert value chains
- Must have a thorough understanding of ingredient technology, formulating, processing and packaging of defined target markets.
- Must have hands-on experience in process technology and food plant operations.
- Solid communication and presentation/training skills.
