Associate Scientist/Engineer (1800257)

You will have a thorough understanding of the mechanical operation of a wide range of bench test equipment, peripheral lab utilities as well as small hydraulic vane pumps, which will allow for the ability to troubleshoot and maintain operation. You will perform a variety of lubricant/fuel additive evaluation tests using established procedures; possess a high comfort level manipulating chemical additives and solvents according to laboratory safety practices.

Ingredients for Success: You Will…
- Ensure the equipment being used is properly calibrated and in working order
- Interface with site engineering department when there are equipment issues
- Handle multiple assignments under close direction of an individual contributor
- Perform preliminary assessment of the technical information, identifying when results are unusual or suspect; able to investigate cause of suspect data; define and implement corrective action
- Summarize experimental design and results in written form for presentation to internal stakeholders; periodically present information internally in oral form
- Author Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and equipment procedures for use by others within the group; proactively identify weaknesses in current procedures and investigate alternatives
- Begin to develop knowledge of products, markets and technology within lubricant/fuel industry

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

- Lab experience in the lubricant or fuel testing area preferred
- Previous experience in laboratory testing preferred
- Understanding of the mechanical operation of a wide range of bench test equipment, peripheral lab utilities as well as small hydraulic vane pumps preferred
