Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Sr. Technical Sales Representative will promote the sales and use of BASF products to the Paper industry in British Colombia and Alberta, Canada, and will provide technical application expertise to customers in their use. The Sr. Technical Sales Representative will establish and maintain close customer relationships to maximize BASF`s presence in the paper industry, and will be responsible for communicating and negotiating pricing for new business, and changes to pricing for existing business.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Adhere to BASF safety, health, and environmental guidelines, as well as corporate policies regarding customer reporting, monthly reports, and expense reports.
- Communicate and negotiate pricing for new business and changes to pricing for existing business.
- Achieve assigned sales targets. Effectively management of cost budgets.
- Gain market knowledge and communicate customer trends and future product demands.
- Implement sales strategies as directed from the Regional Sales Manager.
- Collaborate with management to support, initiate, negotiate, close, monitor, and enforce corporate contracts for assigned customers.
- Demonstrate teamwork and an ability to work with Marketing and Product Management to achieve targets.
- Prepare customer reports that show what competitive products are being used and other strategic information such as volumes, pricing, and sales terms.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor of Science Degree in paper science, chemical engineering, chemistry, or equivalent technical degree.
- Strong knowledge/experience of Paper Industry with a minimum of 5-years technical sales or mill experience. Prefer candidates with at least 10-years industry experience and wet-end chemistry knowledge.
- Excellent written oral and communication skills and be adept at building relationships with multiple internal functions and with customers.
- Possess a strong initiative, be results oriented, and have excellent influencing / impacting skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and process problem solving skills.
- Computer literate with high skill level in Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word etc.).
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
