Lab Tech III - 1800568 – Whitehouse, OH

This position will assist the Technical Service/OEM (Refinish) Qualifications laboratory in support of sales, marketing and technical staff. Aspects of the job include:

• Spraying, testing and qualification of BASF's automotive refinish paints.
• Responsible for the preparation of test panels, the application of various automotive refinish systems, and the subsequent testing of prepared panels.
• Development of the knowledge base and skills needed for understanding and performance of sometimes complex pre-structured test methods.
• Good organization skills will be required in the tracking of panels in testing as well as the record keeping of testing performed or still needed.
• Will be required to prepare test results and paint panels for presentation and formal review by customers to meet their growing demands for "proof" of quality.
• Strong work ethic and be self-motivated.
• Ability to operate projects with a high sense of urgency.
• Work comfortably in a team environment and also effectively on individual efforts.
• Possess highest standards of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Flexible and capable of adapting to priority changes on a daily basis.
• Must possess good oral and written communication skills
• Some travel may be required but should be seldom and limited to same-day local travel with the Toledo/Detroit area.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED and 10 years practical laboratory experience in a chemical / coatings application field, OR an Associates Degree with 5 years practical laboratory experience in a chemical / coatings application field, OR a Bachelors Degree with 2 years practical laboratory experience in a chemical / coatings application field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Intermediate computer skills and be comfortable with MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel for data recording, tracking of testing and presentation of results is necessary

• Experience with formal presentations a plus.

• Must possess good organization skills and the ability and desire to read, understand, and follow testing methods that at times may be quite complex

• Ability to learn new skills, techniques and OEM (Refinish) test methods

• Previous experience preparing spraying, and or testing of coating of substrates of class A finish

• Ability to work independently in a team environment
