Lead Maintenance Technician, 1801178 – Whitehouse, OH

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position will be responsible for maintenance and safe operations of the BASF Whitehouse Automotive Development Center.

• Must be able to investigate and troubleshoot operational problems and develop the most economical methods of replacement and/or repair.
• Review new drawings and designs during the development phase of new equipment installation or construction projects
• Suggesting modifications to conform to laboratory capabilities and limits
• Minimizing costs
• Revising and updating operation sheets, SOP’s, QSP’s, Work Instructions
• Evaluating and initiating orders for new equipment used in the laboratory operations; the design and fabrication of equipment, parts and tooling for non-capital equipment/projects.
• Must have a positive attitude and excellent work ethic and always be aware of safety and housekeeping in any working area.
• Also acts as point person for all SAP maintenance related issues.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must be able to safely operate all normal maintenance shop equipment including, but not limited to, welders, grinders, lathes, hand tools and be able to construct different pieces of lab equipment based on requirements, materials of construction and design. Must be able to read and interpret blue prints, schematics, and isometrics. Also perform general site maintenance and repair as required.
• Must have the ability to coordinate construction/repair and capital projects and be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments throughout the workday, workweek and project assignment.
• Laboratory and testing equipment (Examples: automatic-spraying systems, Weather-o-meters, QUV’s, Humidity and Salt Fog cabinets, scales, electronic troubleshooting and repairs.)
• All safety related repairs, installations, fabrications, and work requests, PRV (Pressure Relief Valve) replacement, testing and re-certification per site procedures.
• Upkeep of the SAP computer maintenance system with all the functional locations, review and processing of any work requests and close outs as required.
• Parts fabrication, milling and machining work for the site.
• Office equipment and other furnishings maintenance and repair.
• Exterior facility maintenance and repairs from roofs to windows and block, to painting and parking lot repairs.
• Equipment moving and utility relocations.
• In the winter months snow and ice removal.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required and on call 24/7 in case of plant or site emergencies.
• Must have a positive attitude and an excellent work ethic.
• Must always be aware of safety and housekeeping in any working area and insure the area is clean after each job is performed.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Basic qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED

• Minimum of 5 years working in maintenance or closely related field

• Must be able to lift 70 pounds.

Preferred qualifications:

• Technical training; Associate degree strongly preferred

• Pipe fitting or welding experience

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment
