Where the Chemistry Happens…

As a Site Controller, you will serve as the first point of accounting and finance guidance for leadership at BASF’s manufacturing locations. You will create and provide financial transparency for the Leadership Team to execute decisions impacting the site. You are a trusted advisor capable of providing financial and accounting guidance and solutions, as well as translating the operational activities at the site into financial results.

In addition, the Windsor, Ontario and the eastern Michigan area has a high concentration of BASF locations, with the presence of multiple Businesses and functions. This provides room for growth and development within the company.

Multi-Site Controller – Windsor, Ontario – Canada (Primary Location – 75% of the time) & Greenville, Ohio – USA (25% of the time)

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Serve as a key member of the Site leadership team and provides strategic financial counsel and support to the VP/General Manager.
- Create transparency and data analysis for decision making for the Site Leadership Team to execute decisions impacting the site.
- Educate local management regarding spending, provide leadership in performance of local audits, and ensure reporting and financial compliance for site’s financial data and assets.
- Direct the site’s operating plan and forecast, as well as provide core accounting solutions, spanning monthly reporting to fixed overhead rate development.
- Guide the process by which the site determines its financial contribution through transparency of cost and opportunity.
- Ensure the site operates with clear visibility of its cost structures and strategies to drive simplicity and reduce complexity.
- Maintain internal and external financial policies and procedures are followed.
- Travel is involved to ensure all sites are represented equally. Travel between the Canadian and U.S. boarder for business purposes.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Must be willing and able to travel between the Canadian and U.S. boarder for business purposes.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree is a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience in site financing, business/corporate accounting, or auditing.
- Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to facilitate effective decision-making in either a static or changing environment.
- Ability to learn quickly, coupled with the ability to adjust to new standards or technologies.
- Capable of applying tactical skills to effectively align with business and site strategy. Must have the business acumen to drive or support an environment of continuous improvement.
- Ability to interpret and apply BASF policies and procedures, BASF Group Accounting Guidelines, IFRS, as well as internal control techniques.
- Skilled in interpreting and understanding the site business/operational environment (business acumen) and align such for the delivery of appropriate accounting/finance solutions and/or financial information.
- Advanced problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Knowledge of management accounting and inventory control methods and BASF Systems (e.g., SAP, MARIS, COBUS, OCEAN).
- Ability to use formal and informal channels to drive solutions.
- Concise communication and effective influencing approaches.
