We are seeking an Account Manager to work with our Performance Materials (PM) team in our Wyandotte, MI facility.

Account Manager (1705585) – Wyandotte, MI

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Represent PM NA as the Team Leader for a Transportation Global Strategic Account customer, and as the Regional Team Member for two Global Key Account customers.
- Leverage negotiating and multi-level communications skills when necessary.
- Develop commercial proposals and provide solutions to competitive issues and customer problems.
- Establish and execute sales account strategy and plan to accomplish annual sales metrics for sales revenue, margin, and volume for territory accounts
- Identify and communicate market trends, customer needs, and competitive information to the PM Transportation organization.
- Manage all aspects of customer relationships.
- Gain working understanding of customer applications and markets.
- Effectively manage territory expenses.
- Develop new business opportunities, register, and track progress using PM’s Customer Target Data Base pipeline.
- Establish a working understanding of PM product lines.
- Build and maintain a current and accurate Sales Action Plan.
- Prepare a monthly summary for the territory (and customers within the territory) to include financial performance, highlights, lowlights, potential new business, potential lost business, pricing, and market intelligence.
- Prioritize and utilize available resources (e.g., management, technical, manufacturing, customer service) to accomplish objectives with customers.
- Complete filing of CRM call reports and written communications in a timely manner to meet the requirements of the PM business.
- Promote safe work practices, both within BASF and at customer facilities.
- Demonstrate entrepreneurial, self-driven behaviors, ability to engage and communicate at all levels, and deliver a sales "hunter" mindset.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field combined with at least 7 years of experience in a sales/technical/business management function; OR and advanced degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in plastics industry is preferred.
- Successful track record of commercial management.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Global business knowledge.
- Experience in creating and implementing key account plans and strategies.
- Willing and able to travel 50% of the time.
- Ability to develop and cultivate new business; engage and manage relationships across organizational layers and functions; lead people and teams; manage time and responsibility without direct authority.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
