Associate Scientist (Adhesives Application) (1801937) – Wyandotte, MI

Where the Chemistry Happens

In this role within the RAD/ON Global Polymer Colloid research group, you will support the existing waterborne adhesives product portfolio (market support) through plant support and product modification, and develop new products using existing technical platforms in cooperation with ED technical service and marketing. In addition, you will support the development of new emulsion products under the supervision of a research chemist.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success
- Leveraging your educational background in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field, combined with your experience in a lab tech role, you will conceptualize, synthesize, and characterize emulsion polymers to support the existing waterborne adhesives product portfolio, as well as synthesize emulsion polymers for new product development in waterborne adhesives.
- Your knowledge and laboratory proficiency in the fields of emulsion polymerization, colloid, and polymer chemistry will be a valued asset as you support customer challenges and manufacturing issues with existing products technology, and work with the Research Chemist to synthesize emulsion polymers for new product development in waterborne adhesives.
- Your strong commitment to workplace safety is a plus as you will maintain a well-stocked, clean, and safe laboratory environment.
- Your solid skills in interpreting data and documenting results will be essential as you will prepare emulsions, summarize data, and report observations to the supervising chemist.
- With your strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will facilitate the training of interns and technicians.
- Your ability to display the highest standards of job safety, integrity, accuracy, reproducibility, and attention to detail will be of high importance as you commission, calibrate, and operate laboratory equipment, as well as coordinate and ship samples to technical marketing and customers.
