Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to manage the construction of small ($50,000) to medium ($15 Million) size projects within the Midwest, Northeast, Regional Service Center Sites as well as BASF Canada sites. You will provide front-end input to project managers to develop construction strategies and schedules, as well as provide the interface between the BASF project team and the construction contractors. As an expert in Construction Management your primary responsibilities will include management of the construction sites with regard to safety, quality, schedule, cost and compliance to specifications. Your ability to troubleshoot is essential to installation and execution activities and resolving field problems. Your strong safety background and deep understanding of OSHA will enable you to provide and maintain a safe worksite allowing you to be pro-active with contractors to prevent accidents and injuries. In addition, your experience will enable you to do the following:
- Coordinate site visits, interpret bid specifications, and explain site specific security and safety regulations
- Conduct incident investigations
- Closely monitor contractors and provide guidance to ensure full understanding of the scope and minimize construction claims. Must be able to analyze and choose low cost alternatives in execution of the work.
- Continually inspect the construction work to assure that job schedules are maintained and that work is being performed safety as per codes and design specifications.
- Ensure that the quantity and quality of materials, equipment and contract labor meet contract requirements
- Document field activities and products necessary reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Coordinates duties of other construction engineers and/or contract inspectors.
- Supports Project Team in the review and authorization of field changes.
- Verifies and approves invoices to validate accuracy with respect to work performance and/or equipment delivered, and recommends approval for payment.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success
- Leveraging your educational background in a technical discipline preferably Construction Management, and/or your extensive professional experience in chemical plant construction, you will be able to apply your experience in petro-chemical plant construction techniques and demonstrated knowledge of various engineering design disciplines.
- Your solid knowledge of chemical process equipment including, but not limited to rotating equipment, heat transfer, solids handling, storage tanks, vessels mechanical equipment installation, pipe fitting and HVAC will allow you to provide technical expertise and consultation (constructability) in the design contract development/ bidding and construction phases of projects.
- Your background in project execution will allow you to manage non-technical phases of construction (planning and scheduling, material receiving, progress tracking, etc.)
- Your strong communications skills will be a valued asset as you provide feedback and consult with the supervising manager regarding most daily and weekly activities.
