Where the Chemistry Happens…

Reporting to the Director, Business Unit Controlling - Performance Materials North America, the Controller – Polyol SBU/Industrial Segment is a key member of the Polyol and Industrial Management Teams and as such, partners with management in driving short- and long-term decisions of the business. S/he provides advice and counsel regarding profit, risk, asset management, and cash flow consideration. The Controller must develop realistic, yet challenging, budgets for the business, formulating both operational and strategic plans. The Controller will take an active role in giving operational support to the business, coordinating different functions in their interaction towards achieving and maintaining a Customer Driven Organization.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Maintain the quality and integrity of financial reporting and analysis.
- Serve as an integral member of the N-PMN Controlling and Business Teams, with expectation to openly discuss business ideas, proposals, and strategies beyond the bounds of the functional responsibilities. Proactively challenge the management team to ensure forecasts and plans are fully vetted, considering both the short- and longer-term impact of business topics and issues. Be a willing decision-maker among the leadership teams.
- Manage the monthly closing process, reviewing all aspects to ensure accuracy and deep understanding of reported results, and to facilitate timely dissemination of financial information.
- Serve as a change agent within the business to proactively identify, communicate, and implement opportunities for key process efficiencies to improve overall business/financial operations.
- Coordinate and manage business reviews, monthly forecasts, annual operating plan, and strategic planning processes for the supported businesses. This includes timely preparation, integrity, and accuracy of reporting along with thorough analysis of results and projections for the future to facilitate effective management decision-making.
- Speak on an informed basis about business developments and how they impact the financial results and upcoming forecasts. Actively track and report on contingency items impacting budgets, both to the Leadership Team and internal to Controlling functional leadership.
- Develop and maintain strong lines of communication with business team and peers in the financial community.
- Hold direct supervisory responsibility for one controlling professional by providing leadership, coaching, and development.
- Provide ad-hoc analysis to support needs of the business and/or leadership team requests.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Finance, Economics, or a related field required; advanced degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience with a financial or economic background, along with financial acumen that can be demonstrated through relevant experience.
- Must have extensive experience in strategic. economic, and operational quantitative analysis, forecasting, financial planning, budgeting, and data modeling.
- Able to work well in a dynamic environment and can identify and implement process improvements.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication and people skills.
- Extraordinary team player.
- Demonstrated project management background a plus.
- Proficient in MS Excel and Access with proficiency in data management.
- Working knowledge of SAP and other financial reporting systems.
