Description
This is a combined position that is responsible for managing the unplanned work orders; generating job plans including labor, material, equipment, and services; creating job packets for field execution; and continually improving job plans via updates based upon work execution feedback. This position is also responsible for developing, communicating and maintaining a workable multi-craft schedule to balance work requirements, production needs, and maintenance resource constraints within a production area.

This position will plan and schedule activities for 5-6 maintenance technicians in a pilot plant environment.

Planner Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage the unplanned work order backlog by:
- Reviewing backlog and planning lists.
- Clarifying incomplete or poorly defined work notifications.
- Grouping work orders and/or notifications together that can be planned and completed as a single order.
- Determining the appropriate degree of planning.
- Assist Maintenance Supervisor and Gatekeeper in the timely execution of emergency or critical priority jobs.
- Assist with optimization of spare parts inventory.
- Build and maintain Bill of Materials (BoMs).
- Identify jobs that require Management of Change (MoC).
- Assist in the preparation and participate in both internal and external audits.
- Assure compliance with site/plant mechanical integrity, preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Complete job plans to ensure the safe and efficient execution of all maintenance work this includes:
- Detailed work scope
- Job step sequence
- Skill requirements
- Outsourcing for specialty contractors or skills requirements
- Labor estimate and plan
- Bill of materials
- External resources and parts
- Special tools or equipment
- Identify and provide repair procedures as required (technical documents)
- Create job packets (as needed) which include:
- Job Plans
- Technical documentation (e.g., photos, drawings, technical specifications, etc.)
- Feedback form.
- Build and validate job kits as appropriate (parts, tools, etc.)
- Create purchase requisitions and reservations for necessary materials, equipment, or services.
- Build and update task lists (job plan library) for recurring jobs.
- Ensure necessary changes or improvements are incorporated
- Revise task lists from job feedback forms.

Scheduling Roles and Responsibilities

Assist the Maintenance Gatekeeper in facilitating the scheduling meeting with Production and Maintenance for resource balancing to ensure job schedules meet the timing requirements for production units. * Perform schedule Look back / Look forward
- Develop weekly resource multi-craft schedule based upon negotiated production unit priorities and current business environment to optimize the use of area-wide and possibly site-wide available resources:
- 100% Capacity Loaded for 1st week
- 60% Capacity Loaded for 2nd week (approximate)
- 40% Capacity Loaded for 3rd week (approximate)
- Validate support crafts, equipment, and outside resources/services
- Validate daily schedule (from weekly schedule).
- Daily check-in with production reps and others.
- Status of current day and confirmation of tomorrow.
- Create updated daily multi-craft schedule.
- Work with the Maintenance Gatekeepers to handle schedule breakers based on process needs and the current business environment.
- Assist in the timely execution of emergency or critical priority jobs.
- Monitor, track and publish schedule compliance reports.
- Provide feedback on resource utilization.
- Provide input into staffing changes that may be necessary based on historical trends and forecasts, including shutdowns, outages, and turnarounds.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Required:
- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent GED, and at least five years of maintenance experience in a chemical manufacturing facility.
- Working knowledge of SAP maintenance transactions.
- Proficient with the Microsoft office suite and Excel.
- Good understanding of procedures regarding planning maintenance work orders. General knowledge of federal, state and local codes and regulations is a plus.
- Ability to produce understandable and accurate reports and records.
- Ability to use basic mathematics including algebra & geometry to take measurements and perform computations required to plan maintenance activities.
- Capable of reading, interpreting and updating piping and instrument diagrams, manufacturers’ specification sheets, and schematics.
- Capable of managing lists of parts and components used, keep an inventory of parts on hand, update any drawings affected, and create procedures of best maintenance practices and procedures.
