Where the Chemistry Happens…

This position is responsible for the management of Reliability and Maintenance Engineering directly supporting the Wyandotte Hub site and supporting Canada sites. This team provides maintenance and reliability engineering expertise and support to manufacturing plants and site facilities and utilities and also provides input to detailed engineering and design of capital projects to design-in improved reliability and maintainability into new equipment and operations. This position also ensures that we are complying to corporate and government standards for mechanical integrity and other maintenance and reliability requirements. Responsible for the development, implementation and sustainability of best in class Maintenance and Reliability work processes to continually optimize maintenance costs and plant availability, to meet the needs of BASF businesses. Provides Maintenance and Reliability leadership through participation in Site, North America, and Global Center of Excellence activities.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Provide leadership and direction to the Maintenance & Reliability Engineering group members, ensuring targets and business needs are met, projects prioritized, and regular process functional upgrades and outputs are achieved.
- Lead and drive the identification, development, implementation and sustainability of Maintenance and Reliability processes and programs across the site.
- Responsible for developing strategies, tools, and work processes to reduce costs and production losses.
- Collaborate with various business groups on site to identify and deliver needed Maintenance and Reliability improvements, as well as collaborate with North American and global BASF Maintenance & Reliability peer groups to identify opportunities for advancing BASF Maintenance & Reliability programs.
- Lead the Wyandotte Maintenance and Reliability Operational Excellence Pillar to promote and identify reliability and maintenance improvements and capture related operational improvement savings.
- Drive efficiency and effectiveness across functional group support with the Wyandotte Engineering Hub discipline engineering and project management teams.
- Responsible for the personnel development and training of the engineers within the Maintenance and Reliability Engineering Team.
- May coordinate the review and implementation of new and revised BASF Corporation Standards and Procedures for the Wyandotte site related to maintenance and reliability engineering practices and requirements.
- Assure that relevant Reliability and Maintainability Design and Technical Standards are consistently and correctly applied to technical support and capital investments across the site.
- Assure consistent compliance with regulatory requirements and site master planning guidelines.
- Responsible for 5 direct reports at this time.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering, with 10 or more years of maintenance and/or reliability engineering experience in a chemical / petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment.
- 5 or more years of proven managerial and leadership experience
- Experience with chemical plant equipment Maintenance and Reliability processes required
- Knowledge of chemical plant design, unit operations, and techniques of the chemical industry, as well as familiarity with the products, raw materials, and processes of supported plants.
- Good understanding of industry best practices regarding Maintenance and Reliability activities and work processes. This includes appropriate Maintenance and Reliability tools to drive improvements, optimize costs, and improve Asset Effectiveness such as Criticality Assessments, Bad Actor Programs, RCFA, MTBF, etc...
- Good understanding of Maintenance and Reliability metrics and KPIs.
- Knowledgeable of applicable industry codes and standards.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects at one time.
- Self-starter, excellent communication skills, organization, coordination, influencing, and leadership skills.
- Ability to lead and manage an organization of highly-skilled maintenance and reliability engineering resources.
- Embrace diversity.

Preferred:
- External Maintenance or Reliability organization knowledge certification preferred.
- SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems working experience.
- PMO leadership experience desired.
