Where the Chemistry Happens…

Reporting to the Vice President and General Manager of the Midwest Hub Sites (MWH) (Wyandotte and Southfield, MI), this position will provide advocacy, people development, employee relations, and project support for the Hub. This position sits on the Wyandotte Site leadership team and the Site EH&S Council.

Formula for Success: You Will…

Project Management:
- Lead and manage Midwest Hub Projects as assigned.
- Gather, organize, prioritize, and analyze project data to ensure successful implementation.
- Lead and collaborate with project team members, vendors, contractor teams, and BASF internal organizations and functions.
- Own direct communications to affected business units and/or locations.
- Actively work to develop, implement, and measure sustainable improvements.

People Development:
- Knowledge Management: Support the full lifecycle of site employees from Site On-boarding (new employees) to employee development (mid-career) through knowledge transfer (late in career).
- Coach a varied and diverse group of managers and team members to exhibit the competencies, personal behavior, skills, and knowledge needed to ensure sustainable growth.
- Support development assignments and movement of talent across units.
- Motivate and challenge hub personnel to drive high performance.
- Enable development of competencies in team members needed to implement the BASF/MWH strategies.
- Provide ongoing support to assist new employees in acclimating to MWH and BASF processes, procedures, and culture.
- Support the MWH LDC community, ensuring all MWH employees are represented.
- Develop a Wyandotte site co-op program that is defined and sustainable.

Advocacy/Employee Relations:
- Build/continue to support positive employee relationships within the MWH Operations, Business, R&D managers, and employees.
- Provide comprehensive counselling to develop and enhance MWH employee relationships, as well as act as a sounding board when necessary.
- Act as advocate/facilitator for conflict resolution, as well as coach leaders to facilitate a successful resolution.
- Interact with BASF SHRBA, SHRMA, Labor Relations Specialist, and/or BASF Labor Relations Council as necessary.

Leadership Coaching:
- Provide direction for simplification and continuous improvement of current processes.
- Align MWH strategy with BASF NA strategy for simplification, optimization, and effective management of MWH overall culture strategies.
- Coach for development and monitoring of goals, implementation of merit increases, coaching, development, and training for employees to reach their full potential.
- Motivate and challenge to drive high performance.
- Support a safety culture in which all accidents are preventable.
- Create and ensure a work environment that fosters teamwork, responsible risk taking, accountability, personal growth, and job enjoyment.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 10 years of experience in leadership, human resources, people development, and/or coaching.
- At least 5 years of experience in the chemical/manufacturing industry.
- Background in project management and organization development
- Demonstrated effective communication skills with senior leadership, technicians, office workers, and manufacturing site workers.
- Ability to work well with all levels of the organization in conflict resolution.
- Capable of cross collaborating with others in the organization to execute solutions.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to provide direction for simplification and continuous improvement of current processes.
