In marketing, you are responsible for product and industry segments and consolidating BASF’s global market leadership in close collaboration with our sales teams in the business units.

The New Business Development and Marketing Manager is a member of the Isocyanates and Inorganics leadership team, and is responsible for new business development and executing innovation. This position leads a team of New Business Development Managers whose focus is on product launches, market development, Phasegate project management, innovation reporting, IP management, market scouting, and generation of the Isocyanates innovation pipeline. The responsibility range from idea generation to sustained commercial success.

The New Business Development and Marketing Manager is also responsible for working closely with Global Innovation and New Business Development units in Monomers, as well as collaborating across BASF business units. The responsibility involves supporting global innovation initiatives to include regional expertise across the whole business unit.

Reporting to the Vice President and as a member of the Isocyanates Leadership Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for talent identification and development for the business unit.

New Business Development & Marketing Manager, Isocyanates (1702032) – Wyandotte, MI

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Lead new business execution for launch and pre-launch phase projects.
- Own the Isocyanates development projects portfolio and drive the speed and efficiency of these projects.
- Identify and screen market opportunities based on business metrics including volume, EBIT, probability of success, IP, and innovation potential.
- Prepare proposals and work closely with R&D leaders and group members to ensure speed and efficiency of each development project through the lab phase.
- Produce regular updates on regional innovation activities to both regional and global functions, supporting global innovation reporting to represent Monomers’ contribution to BASF innovation success
- Manage the Monomers IP portfolio and strategy development.
- Make individual and joint sales calls to uncover unmet needs, market conditions, industry trends, and innovation opportunities.
- Hold responsibility for analysis of assigned market segments, identify growth drivers, and work with business teams to develop market segment strategies.
- Own the North American Monomers R&D budget, as well as the Marketing group budget.
- Provide analysis of value chains, substitution potential, pricing, market survey, and channels.
- Collaborate with global Monomers departments as well as regional cross business units toward team and BASF goals.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required; advanced degree (MBA or Ph.D.) is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of work experience in new business development, marketing, and/or sales.
- Previous sales/marketing experience with global exposure to the chemical industry and customer relationships.
- Experience in leading people and teams.
- Proven ability to identify business opportunities and develop appropriate strategies and relationships that deliver commercial results within a diverse and challenging business climate.
- Demonstrated proficiency to employ superior communication, interpersonal skills, influencing skills, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to interact with key decision-makers at all levels, both customers and internal management, including senior management levels.
- Ability to travel at least 20% of the time.
