Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a New Markets and Products Development Director to be based out of our Wyandotte, MI facility.

Formula for Success: You Will…

Leveraging your global leadership expertise, you will:
- Own and manage the R&D New Business Development (NBD) process, innovation projects, and pipeline portfolio of a $2 billion Business Unit (specialty formulated products). Partner with the Global Business Team to prioritize and manage projects cross-regionally.
- Lead Innovation Management (including Intellectual Property and Trainings) as well as Product Development and Product Development Services.
- Coach, develop and manage a large team of 80+ people across different locations.
- Spend time building strong relationships across various cultures and locations, with strategic customers, universities, industry leaders and Global Business Teams, business management, and Research & Development to determine business priorities and further our innovative and competitive advantage.
- Strategically translate industry knowledge and insights into compelling R&D strategies for BASF.
- Manage and monitor operational and financial metrics, including R&D budget for Performance Materials Business Unit, NBD, progress of innovation projects and time-to-market, speed of execution in sample processing, NPV, ECV, vitality index.

You will use your Chemistry or Polymer Science PhD & deep R&D experience to conceive new projects/programs and set a research direction that provides innovation and breakthrough advantages for the business. This includes tapping into your project management and change management skills to lead complex projects and set technical/process directions that have long-term strategic impact. Your travel time could range from 20-40% on average.
