Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a technician in the Physical Testing Lap of the Polyurethane Systems Services Group. You will report to a Staff Scientist.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Set up and develop test methods as per industry standards for polyurethane foam testing or as specified by customer
- Review foam testing requests submitted by internal customers via internal software system
- Prepare foam samples for specified testing
- Operate with hand tools and power tools, such as band saw and presses
- Ensure that the proper testing equipment/instrument and method is used as specified
- Ensure that all work conducted is in compliance with ISO 9001 certification
- Work collaboratively with a team of six co-workers in order to complete testing requests
- Enter testing data/results in LIMS (Lab Information Management System) in a timely manner for customers to access
- Resolve minor issues as related to equipment/instrument and test methods
- Communicate effectively and without delay with service team and customers on setbacks as related to equipment/instrument malfunction that results in the delayed completion of testing request
- Support site Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and continuous improvement initiatives through individual and team contribution

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

- A minimum requirement of an Associates with 2 years of relevant experience or a High School Diploma with 3 years of relevant experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills with ability to follow written/verbal instructions
- Must operate with a high sense of urgency – be customer focused
- Maintain the highest standards of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in regard to data management
- Ability to work independently following all safety policies and standard operating procedures with the highest regard to safety
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office current version (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
- On occasion, must be able to lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds

- Solid background in safe work practices to operate equipment/machinery such as band saws and presses
- Working knowledge of materials testing as related to the characterization of polyurethane- based materials for chemical structure-property relationship
- Efficient at time management to multitask
- Proven track record demonstrating a strong work ethic and inclined toward continuous improvement
- Ability to work in a team environment and also effectively on individual efforts
- Computer programming skills would be a plus
- Mechanical skills would be a plus
