Technical Development Representative (1801927) – Wyandotte, MI

Where the Chemistry Happens

The Performance Materials (PM) business unit focuses on development, application, production, and technical service of engineering plastics and polyurethane systems with sales into transportation, consumer, industrial, and construction market segments.

We are seeking a professional like you to support customer development projects incorporating Polyurethane products. You will serve as the primary technical interface to select customers, and will participate in project phases from ideation and product promotion to product development and launch. Through close customer collaboration, our Technical team develops and optimizes polyurethane systems that bring high value for which BASF is known across every industry in the market.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

• Leveraging your extensive educational background in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, along with your relevant professional experience, you will supply technical support to existing customers by way of training, product selection, product qualification, analytical support, and process and performance troubleshooting.

• Your strong customer relationship skills, combined with your ability to work with all levels from plant operations to engineers to executive leadership, will be a valued asset as you establish strong, genuine relationships with new and existing BASF customers.

• With your passion for innovation and solid entrepreneurial drive, you will develop new and innovative polyurethane products to support the Transportation industry as guided by market segment strategies.

• Driving strategic decisions for the business, you will maximize value captured from existing applications by increasing the industry’s technical knowledge of our product’s value proposition by way of in-depth studies, customer discussions, and industry presentations.

• Successfully engaging outside the organization, you will attend customer trials, development meetings, launch activities, and conduct troubleshooting visits, as well as provide customer education on the efficient use of BASF materials.
