Where the Chemistry Happens…

The Research & Development community in Wyandotte, MI provides research, process & product development for business partners in NA. The Technical Learning & Development Manager (TLDM) supports the learning and the development of the Technicians, Engineers, and Scientists in the community of CER, RA and PM on the Wyandotte Site. The TLDM ensures the capture and transfer of institutional knowledge, as well as, process safety, quality, productivity, and technical development of personnel are met.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Develop and implement process to capture and transfer institutional knowledge to ensure organizational effectiveness and business continuity
- Develop, implement and maintain standardized training process to safeguard organizational capabilities and expertise
- Provide and implement process to train professionals to specific standards and measure effectiveness of training
- Implement and maintain LMS & Instructor-led curriculum (e.g., research report writing, SOPs, work instructions, etc) to comply with all requirements including laboratory techniques, PS, PSM, ISO, GMP, and so on.
- Establish OJT (on the job training) mentors, subject matter experts, and procedure reviewers to support training activities for existing and new employee orientation.
- Maintain unit specific safety manual
- Maintain, update, and audit all training documents and procedures as required by equipment specific guidelines, changes, MOCs, and periodic reviews
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership to develop and implement best EHS and technical training practices
- Representative on site committees (e.g., collaboration with L&D community) to drive best practices and consistency

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Ph.D Required
- 15 years of experience working within a research and chemical manufacturing environment
- Ability to lead, motivate, and influence others
- Ability to communicate through all levels of the organization
- Entrepreneurial, independent, results-oriented
- Experience implementing training initiatives
- Strong chemistry and manufacturing experience
- Clear understanding of Research, Development and Manufacturing concepts
- Ability to write and teach technical standards and procedures
- Ability to assess training needs and formulate instructional material
- Expertise in Information Systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required
