We are seeking chemist to support PU systems and cast elastomers to support the Performance Materials unit.

Technical Service Representative (1701599)

The Technical Service Representative is a technical service specialist that also supports product and application development efforts. Focus is on providing adequate technical service assistance in the cast area for assigned projects and the development of new cast elastomer formulations along with the improvement of existing products and processes.

Formula for Success: You Will…
- Apply knowledge gained from other polymer and plastics areas to create Elastomer systems that maximize the desirable attributes needed for a specific customer.
- Use scientific tools, statistical methods, and specialized experience to modify existing technologies for new end-use applications.
- Report in technical papers relevant findings from development studies and present data to the polyurethane community.
- Design and supervise in-house and customer trials of existing and new systems
- Interface with R&D, marketing, sales and manufacturing personnel often to utilize these group’s resources and review product testing
- Provide required technical service to assigned accounts, focusing on the systems business
- Identify new opportunities with existing accounts and/or new customer targets

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field required.
- Working experience in technical services, R&D, Quality Control, or similar positions in the fields of polyurethanes or polymer chemistry preferred.
- Excellent communication skills (oral/written), self-driven, and ability to effectively translate customer needs into requirements while leading projects to fulfill them
- Strong work management and analytical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities and goals under challenging situations. Must be able to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment with excellent rapport building skills.
- Strong goal orientation with a drive to complete business-relevant projects
- Aptitude to interact with customers effectively and solve problem while securing BASF’s supply position with Win-Win solutions.
- Able to travel up to 20% of the time.
