Urethane Applications Machine Technician – Wyandotte, Michigan – (1704259)

The Urethane Applications Machine Technician will support the Urethanes Technical Service and R&D Communities by performing new product development trials and customer troubleshooting efforts in the machine area for the Construction, Consumer, Industrial, and Transportation business segments.

Working under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Technician performs tasks such as:
- Support technical service community by setting up and operating machines for trials and/or customer troubleshooting
- Perform housekeeping tasks around operating equipment and assigned area
- Adhere to all Wyandotte site and UAB policies and standards to ensure a safe working environment
- Perform maintenance tasks for equipment, including PMs, repairs, troubleshooting, etc.
- Prepare product blends for customer trials
- Assist team members with tasks as needed, working in a collaborative environment
- Perform duties of assigned Safety Coordinator role
- The UA Machine Technician will be responsible for moving and lifting product up to 50 pounds
- Communicate effectively and without delay with service team and customers on setbacks related to equipment/instrument malfunction that results in the delayed completion of project requests
- Operate hand tools and power tools, such as band saws, drill presses and other machine shop equipment
- Ensure that the proper testing equipment/instrument and method are used as specified (Karl Fisher Titrators and Viscometers)
- Ensure that all work conducted is in compliance with ISO 9001 certification
- Follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively in both an oral and written manner
- Support site Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and continuous improvement initiatives through individual and team contribution
- Work independently following all safety policies and standard operating procedures

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience in a lab, production or similar hands-on mechanical work environment

-or-
- Associate’s Degree and 1 year of experience in a lab, production or similar hands-on mechanical work environment
- 6 months mechanical troubleshooting experience
- 1 year experience with standard computer programs such as email, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:
- Machine operator experience
- Polyurethane industry experience
- Troubleshooting experience specifically related to machines used to prepare polyurethane materials
